About us
The Social Agency is an arts based social and support group for Autistic and Learning Disabled adults over 18 years old who live in Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas. We provide a safe place for Autistic and/or Learning Disabled adults to come together and create.
Meetings are held regularly, some of which are for catching up, brews, and biscuits, while others are for exploring different art forms and developing skills.
A little bit of history:
The Social Agency began in 2016 as a way to reduce social isolation for Autistic and/or Learning Disabled adults in North Staffordshire. It started as a project of Rideout Creative Arts for Rehabilitation, in late 2023 we became an independent constituted unincorporated group.
We met fortnightly in 4 different locations in Biddulph, Leek, Cheadle and Newcastle-Under-Lyme and there are members from this time still in attendance.
Our purpose was (and still is) to help people gain confidence, develop skills and build friendships.
We have always strived to be a safe space where people can come together and feel comfortable sharing what might be happening in their life at that moment.
All of this continues to be done through arts based activities, games and more. To see what we're up to at the moment, head over to our Current Projects page.
